From July 15th to 17th, the first activity to enhance the implementation capacity of the Agreement on Port State Measures to Prevent, Deter and Eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (hereinafter referred to as the Agreement) was held at Shanghai Ocean University. Manuel Barange, Assistant Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Director of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Department, Sun Haiwen, Deputy Director of the Fisheries and Fishery Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Wan Rong, President of Shanghai Ocean University, and other guests attended the event. A total of 55 participants from the Fisheries and Fishery Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Fishery Security Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration, the Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration, Shanghai Customs, the Shanghai Entry-Exit Frontier Inspection Station, the competent departments and law enforcement agencies of fisheries and fishery administration in 11 coastal provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), as well as organizations such as the China Ocean Fisheries Association, the Zhejiang Institute of Marine Fisheries, and Shanghai Ocean University, participated in the event.
